Reverend Peluso's second language is Spanish. "I learned it in my teens and later became certified in bilingual and multicultural studies after graduate work in NYC and summers in Mexico." Linguistic exposure in NYC is amazing. "My teachers came from all over Latin America and Spain." And the NYC streets are also a constant learning experience 1 in 4 residents from Spanish speaking backgrounds.
Ironically enough, soon after ordination, she began getting many requests for French weddings. So she began learning that language too. "I love French and adored my French speaking couples." Rev. Peluso also studied some Italian and Brazilian Portuguese years ago and has also worked with couples in those languages too.
A natural ear and a life long love affair with languages inspired Rev. Peluso to find creative ways to work with couples... even in languages she doesn't speak.
"I will happily discuss my relative proficiencies and limitations in any language so we can best determine how to work together to achieve a ceremony that is inclusive and understood by all wedding guests."
